"Time loops itself"

TIME LOOPS ITSELF
"Time loops itself" is a group of one poem, the video “Time loops itself”, four figurative watercolors (22x30 when unframed, 26x34 framed), two large framed watercolors (65x45 inches), and nine watercolors of nature (16x20 inches unframed, 20x24 framed).
Both a portrait and a reflection on the nature of time, the poem was created after a video portraying a young man walking in the forest. This body of work seeks to start a dialogue with the viewer, as a book or a movie would, and is more experiential than purely visual. The combination of mediums creates an accessible and evocative environment for a wide audience, anyone who feels calm, clarity and mystery in nature. The link between poetry, spontaneous watercolor paintings, the geometry of nature is reinforced in Thesmar's work.
The four figurative watercolors are inspired by the video, the artist's personal cosmogony, and her love for her son. The nine smaller pieces are contemplations of nature and its teachings, in terms of light, opacity, structure and color.
Thesmar frees the viewer’s gaze from a singular viewpoint, experimenting with compositions built on geometric grids with multiple vanishing points, evoking the true spatial dynamics of the natural world. Her explorations in geometry (through Penrose tiling, the golden ratio, and fractal forms) reveal a balance between order and organic flow, celebrating both precision and spontaneity.
The painted artworks are watercolors on paper, framed in professional frames with anti-UV, anti-glare glass. The video is in 4k shot on a professional camera, and can be displayed on various screens.
POEM: TIME LOOPS ITSELF
(by Fleur Thesmar)
Time loops itself like a pearl,
Spreading its wings in harmonious spells,
Until light catches their sparkling bokeh,
Like waves of life carried away.
The spirit weaves nets of memory,
Blowing away everything blurry,
From diamonds spins a staircase,
Precious building made of grace.
In the naked forest,
you walk,
Blessed by large blooming arks.
A geometric sun sculpts the oak,
Birds splicing songs setting spring's marks.
If the night had filled the long road,
I'd want to not shiver nor fall,
As light shines on your pretty face.
Wheels of ebony steel,
driving.
I wish I knew how the barks bowed,
Cutting out the late winter's lace,
Carving up a pinnacle bowl.
Waft over the gauze of twisted snakes,
My soul in wonder blows and shakes.
The great landscape unfurls like a mantel,
Leaves crumble and crisp, while candles,
In the great white tree,
Everlasting,
Amble for thee.

Biography
Fleur Thesmar (b. 1972, Paris, France) graduated from Ecole Polytechnique, Palaiseau, France, and holds a Master in Sciences from Imperial College, London, UK. She is an interdisciplinary artist whose work encompasses watercolor, weaving, tapestry, video, and photography, with a focus on evoking the mystique and subtle strangeness of nature. After an early start in the arts, Thesmar returned to her creative path following a transformative shift from her former role as a lobbyist in France. Her move to the U.S. in 2015 and immersion in the expansive Californian landscapes sparked a renewed commitment to expressing nature’s shapes and rhythms in her work.
Thesmar’s process is rooted in environmental awareness. An allergy to preservatives in conventional paints led her to embrace natural, sustainable materials, reflecting her sensitivity to nature and forming a dialogue that invites viewers to pause, explore, and imagine. Her art offers a space for contemplation and discovery, encouraging a personal connection to the environment.
Thesmar’s works are exhibited in the USA and in France, and are held in private collections worldwide, including in the USA, Canada, Europe, and Asia. Her practice continues to evolve, guided by a commitment to artistic exploration, environmental consciousness, and a nuanced dialogue between the organic and the mystical.
