Follow me into weaving

If you followed my blog since a long time, you may remember an abstract piece named "No Plastic". In 2021, I suffered from terrible allergies and asthma, before I found out that I was allergic to preservatives: they happen to be present in most paints, acrylics, paper, and even watercolors. As the mediums are volatile, I was inhaling them and getting sick. My allergologist helped to figure out what to do, which is basically to get rid of all my art supplies and select new ones.
It was awful for me, and before I solved the problem, I resolved to explore weaving, a craft I had practiced since a dozen of years. This was my first experiment into weaving linen, papers and to paint them. The result still holds up perfectly, including the environmental friendly paint I created.

In 2024, I made "Nothing Happened", a textile piece with embroidery and cyanotype, exhibited locally in Cambridge:

Once I had solved my asthma problem, I went back to watercolors and produced several artworks. It is now time I complete my work with new textile/painting pieces. I am working on a new body of work which addresses ideas such as AI, consciousness and art making, where I want to include these new artworks along with watercolors. Below, you will find a video dedicated to the weaving of the surface I want to paint over. Now, I must seize it, which involves a rather long process. It wont be ready before a few months. I will create a bunch of these handwoven fabric for future works. Thanks for watching!
